I really appreciate this analysis, Elizabeth. It is so comforting hearing a take, and listening to a song that does not take the stance of glorifying religion when you are down but rather brings light to struggling with religious coping ideas when having experienced trauma. I loved when you brought up, “Everything happens for a reason,” as frustrating. Coming from the south but not living there I often am told that the reason I am still feeling impact from trauma is because God simply has a plan and I must wait. It really all ties back to the unfairness of trauma and, even sometimes, religion. Thank you for this, I hope this comment made sense. 🤍
